My Father’s Promise

My family is my life. I am really happy with my family life. There is always happiness among us. We never fight each other. My father never makes my mother cries and so do I. However, one day, everything changed. My family life totally changed. I felt so frustrated after my uncle passed away three years ago in which it made my family life became so complicated and chaotic.

Honestly, the thing that I could not accept was that my father was often in my aunt’s house to treat her and my cousin. I really knew that they were so sad of losing my uncle. My father always consoled them so that they were not too sad. I knew that my father was really kind to entertain them always. He was so busy with them in which he rarely picked me up at school so I had to go home with public transportation. My father was seldom at home in which made me so missed him. I really missed about our togetherness in watching TV together in our family room.

My mother and I were so jealous with my aunt and my cousin. Something that I could not understand was that they always asked my father to do something that was really trivial and actually, they could do it by themselves. They were too spoiled with my father. My father always helped them even though he was so busy with his job. My father was so patient to help them. The worst thing was my mother always cried and quarreled with my father because she could not control her jealousy. I could understand it because I felt the same thing with my mother.

I tried to talk with my father calmly because I did not want this problem destroyed my family life. I texted him to go home and then, we sat face to face in our house. I explained the problem to my father. My father cried and said that he has promised to my uncle to keep his family. My father also said that we could not be egoist. As their relative, we had to treat them especially when they were in sadness. My father apologized to my mother who was in the bed room and to me as well. He promised that he would pay attention more to me and my mother. My mother and I could understand about that and we tried to be more patient with my aunt and my cousin. Finally, we hugged each other. I could remove my longing feeling with him by hugging him. 

From this experience, I realized that we may not be egoist people. We have to think other’s happiness and the most important thing is that we have to fulfill our promise to the others. This frustrating problem which made my family life became so complicated and chaotic can make me more mature to undergo this life. 

Shocking Sunday

Normally, pregnant women give birth in the hospital. They are treated by the professional midwife and nurse as well. Their family just wait outside the room. 

My Mother and Sister

Something that I had to do at that time was I had to help my mother to give birth alone because my father went to find the midwife. I was really shocked and confused because I did not know what to do and my mother felt so much in pain particularly in her chest. She was really hard to breath. I did not want something bad happened with my mother so that I tried to message her stomach. I prayed to God so hopefully my sister would bear safely. Suddenly, my sister was born. I was very shocked and my mother as well. We did not expect that she was born quickly.

The midwife came and I had to help her to treat my mother and sister. She took my sister from my mother’s groin. I saw that there were so much blood in my mother and sister’s bodies. Actually, I was very afraid with blood but I had no choice. As a daughter of my mother and an older sister of my younger sister, I had to treat them. I took warm water to clean and wipe the blood in my mother’s body. Meanwhile, the blood in my sister’s body might not be cleaned by warm water. The midwife asked me to wipe the blood by cotton only. After that, I prepared some clothes for my sister. I was really confused because I was not familiar with those clothes. Fortunately, the midwife helped me to choose the clothes. She was dressing my sister while I was dressing my mother. Then, my mother breastfed my sister. At first, she gave colostrum to my sister in which the midwife told us that it had a lot of antibodies that could help my sister to resist the disease. I never saw breast milk like that. After breastfeeding, my mother was very hungry so I prepared some food for her. I tried to make her porridge although I could not cook at that time. She asked me to buy nuts for her in order to increase the amount of the breast milk. Honestly, I felt really shocked to face this situation but I felt happy as well because I could devote my self for my beloved mother and sister.

My father asked me to prepare offerings in which I did not know how to make it. I was really shocked and confused. Then, I tried to learn in making offerings in my neighbor’s house. Fortunately, she was really kind so I could learn it comfortably. I prepared the material such as: young coconut leaves, cooked rice, Balinese cakes, and some fruits. Stapler was also needed to string up the young coconut leaves. My neighbor guided me to make the offerings so I could make it well. After that, my father and I presented the offerings to God to watch over my sister. I put the offerings on the bed of my sister. We presented it particularly for Sang Hyang Kumara Kumari as God that always keeps every baby in this world from every danger. Actually, it was the first time for me to make offerings and present it to God.

That shocking Sunday gave me an unforgettable experience which I never imagine in my life. I was really shocked when I faced this situation in which I had to help my mother to give birth, treat her and my sister, and make offerings. It was something new for me in which I could learn from the situation that one day, I will be a mother too. From this experience, I realize how the struggle of a mother to give birth her baby. It was really amazing.

My Special Friend

Salendri is one of my friends who is very different from all of my friends. She was my roommate one year ago. She always made me crazy every day. Salendri is a very greedy and she never cleaned our room. She often ate my food and snacks. She rarely took a bath and never wanted to waste her rubbish in the dustbin. How mad I was having a roommate like her? But, I realize now that there is no one who is perfect. Actually, Salendri taught me everything in which she is very confident, thrifty, and diligent. I often come to her new boarding house because I am proud having a special friend like her.  

Salendri is very confident with herself. She never feels down about her appearance. Honestly, she is an ordinary girl who does not have any attractive appearance which makes her becomes special girl. She is fat and tall. She has thick black hair and brown skin. Salendri is ordinary in dressing as well. She never cares about how she wears clothes and the mode. Her clothes are very simple and rarely ironed. However, she never feels as bad or ugly girl. She is always confident with who she is.

Salendri is very thrifty one. She never wastes money to buy something which is not important. Even, she sometimes does not buy any crucial needs such as hand body lotion, soap, and some books for her college. I remember that when she was my roommate, she often used my hand body lotion and the soap as well. Salendri often borrowed some books from her seniors so that she did not need to spend much money to buy them. Besides, Salendri seldom does shopping at supermarket. She prefers to buy her needs at market because the price is cheaper than in the supermarket. I can learn to be thrifty from her. She is so inspiring.

She is a diligent person. She never postpones in doing her assignment. She does it seriously. Salendri always wakes up at 5 a.m. every day for studying. She is very diligent to study. She is always on time to go to the college and never late to submit her assignment. I can learn from her. I really hope that I can be a diligent person like her.

Indeed, Salendri is my special friend who can teach me everything. I love her so much. She can inspire me to be a better person. Her confidence, the way she manages her money, and her diligence in doing her assignment and studying as well make me feel that she is a special friend and I am lucky having a friend like her.

My Inspiring Brother

Do you have a brother? Have you ever felt jealous because he has much strength than you? What do you feel if some of your friends adore him? My brother's name is Dodick. He is often called Dodick Kaminari by his friends because he is like thunder that always makes many people become surprised, amazed, and wonder with all of his acts. Actually, my brother is very attractive, creative, and curious about everything in which it makes me proud of him and he can inspire me to be a better person.

            My brother is an attractive boy. He is handsome and very stylish in wearing certain clothes. He has exotic brown skin which makes him more impressive. He is tall and dashing. My brother has shiny dark hair and pointed nose which makes some of my friends adore him. Besides, his smooth oval face without acne and his dark eyes attracts every girl who sees him. Furthermore, he has his own style in wearing his clothes which cannot be doubted. Honestly, he does not have much money to buy any branded and expensive clothes but he can look so classy with his cheap clothes. His style is so different from the others. He always can make every girl becomes fascinated with him.

            I feel that he is a creative person as well. He likes to modify something which is ordinary and less valuable to be more worthwhile and innovative. In his bed room, there are so many goods which he modifies. The most creative thing in his bed room is the wall there. He stuck many posters in all part of the wall there when he was in junior high school. He made the posters by himself in which they were very creative and inspiring. Furthermore, he also created a chair by obsolete and crumpled newspaper. Now, he put it near the window. It looks so unique. The other is his bicycle. Actually, three years ago, it was a rusty bicycle which was never used for aged and the style also was very ancient. However, he could modify it to be a qualified bicycle with eccentric style which was different from the other bicycle. His creativeness makes everything so unique and more valuable.

            My brother is also a curious one. He always wants to try something new. There are a lot of his strange behaviors because of his curiosity. One of them is snail rice. He is very curious with this small and slow animal. He often went to the rice field with his friends to find some snail rice. He is also curious with the taste of that animal so that he often used snail rice as material to make some food. Those were satay, soup, and so on. He could make it became so delicious. I realize that my brother can develop his curiosity to be something which is more precious.

            In short, my brother is an inspiring person. He is unique and different from others. I should not be jealous with him but should be proud of him. It is because I can learn everything from him. His attractiveness, creativity, and curiosity make me believe and realize that we do not need to be rich and well-known to be adored by other people in which we just need to be who we are. I believe that he will be successful person in the future.
